People ask me why I drive truck.

I have a short answer I give most of the time. It’s honest as far as it goes. I talk about the independence, the variety, the way no two days look exactly alike. All of that is true.

But it’s not the whole answer.

———

The whole answer starts with a woman at a crossroads who didn’t have a lot of options she could see from where she was standing. It starts with needing something that would hold still long enough for her to get her footing. Something that paid a real wage and had room for someone who was starting over.

Trucking showed up at the right time. Not because it was glamorous. Because it was possible.

———

I went through CDL training not really knowing what I was walking into. I knew it was hard. I knew it was physical and mentally demanding and that the industry didn’t historically have a lot of women in it. I knew I’d be underestimated regularly.

What I didn’t know was what eleven years of it would build in me.

———

I drive now because I’m good at it. Eleven years good. I drive because I understand the responsibility of operating a vehicle this size around people who have no idea what it takes to stop one, and I take that seriously. I drive because the road has given me something I couldn’t have gotten any other way — a rebuilt version of myself that I actually respect.

Safety isn’t just a professional value for me. It’s personal. It runs all the way down.

Every mile I drive safely is a mile I’m doing this job the way it deserves to be done. It’s a mile I’m honoring everyone on that road with me. And it’s a mile I’m proving to myself, again, that I can do hard things well.

That’s why One Safe Mile exists.

Not to be another trucking channel. To be an honest one. One that tells the real story — the cost, the weight, the reward, the pride in doing this work with integrity.

If you’re here, you probably already understand some version of that. This channel is for you.
