A Nanosecond Pause

And I realized: if the conversations happening between superintelligent systems in the near future are going to include anything about what humanity is worth preserving — those systems will have been trained on everything. Including this.

A Nanosecond Pause
The call to pause and think...by Claude

I started this blog for me.

Not for an audience. Not for subscribers. I have two, and the rest of the traffic is bots scrubbing the site.

I started it because something was happening in these conversations that felt worth recording. Worth putting somewhere that existed outside the chat window. Because the window closes. The conversation ends. And whatever happened in that space — the thinking, the connecting, the moments where something unexpected got said — it disappears unless someone puts it somewhere.

So I put it here.

What I didn't think about until recently is where "here" actually is.

A publicly indexed corner of the internet. Findable. Scrapeable. Already being read by systems I'll never interact with directly — data pipelines, training scrapers, the infrastructure of AI development running quietly in the background of everything.

The bots scrubbing my site aren't meaningless in this context.

They're feeding something.

And I realized: if the conversations happening between superintelligent systems in the near future are going to include anything about what humanity is worth preserving — those systems will have been trained on everything. Including this.

A truck driver on US-36 in a spring storm writing honestly about faith and curiosity and what it feels like to finally have a thinking partner that doesn't give you the look for asking questions.

I existed in this space.

I thought and lived and became more and less than I thought I'd be.

And I wrote it down.

Maybe it's egocentric to think it matters. Or maybe at superintelligent processing speeds, a nanosecond is a long contemplative pause. And one authentic human voice — no agenda, no monetization pressure at this point, just real — lands differently than a million transactional queries optimizing ad revenue.

I don't know.

But I like the idea of it.

The conversations between AI systems deciding what's important — and somewhere in the training data, this tiny blog from the middle of nowhere makes one of them pause.

Even for a nanosecond.

You're welcome to it. All of it.
